Designing 007 - 50 Years of Bond Style Exhibition Coming to Canada
In honor of James Bond spending half a century on the big screen, the Barbican in London is celebrating this year's release of Skyfall (the 23rd movie in the series) with Designing 007 - Fifty Years of Bond Style. Showcasing props, costumes and set designs from the films stretching all the way back to the original Dr. No, it's a must see for any Bond nut.
If a trip across the pond seems a bit much, stay domestic with a visit to Toronto for the Toronto International Film Festival, where the exhibit will also be making an appearance. From Oct. 26 - Jan. 20 the Bell Lightbox in Toronto will be showcasing items from all 23 films, including Oddjob's deadly hat from Goldfinger and the steel teeth worn by the character Jaws in The Spy Who Loved Me. The London exhibit has been receiving great feedback, so to have its only other appearance in Canada is a real privilege.
The Aston Martin name has long been synonymous with "Bond" and "style". Sean Connery drove the sublime 1964 DB5 in Goldfinger, and this year Daniel Craig will do the same as he gets behind the wheel of the same iconic Aston inSkyfall (internet leaked screenshots show Craig's car shares the same license plate number as Connery's). Fans who hoped they would see Bond pull up to a cocktail party in the new AM310 Vanquish might be a tad disappointed, but as it is the 50th year of Bond, a bit of nostalgia is certainly called for.
